About Tohi

Hossein Mousavi a.k.a "Tohi" was born on 26th of January in Tehran the capital of Iran. From early age Tohi started to being a career in rap music through passion and determination. In 2002, Tohi took his music to the next level as a professional rap artist where the music produced and released had a remarkable audience with an impact on the modern ages especially in Iran.

Since 2000, Tohi has released numerous tracks with a variety from love songs, religious subjects to society related music.

The songs "Raghse Andam", (the dance of the shapes), "Keylead" (the key), "Mano In" (me and this) and "Ghol Bede" (promise me); are the four tracks Tohi's most famous and recognised for. The four successful hits produced by the artist is purely through the support and astonishing fan based community.

In an interview Tohi admitted that "Boghz", (Spite), is his own favourite song.

Tohi has been a part of the 021 group since the group started, back in 2000. The name "021" is taken from Tehran's area code. He also invented his own hand signature which can be seen imitated by other stars such as Akon.

Tohi's, ambition is not only to target the Persian speaking boundaries but to expose the making of Iranian rap music yo be recognised internationally. The diversity of the lyrics in his songs is definitely the reflection of his enthusiastic approach to achieve his target. Currently Tohi's live concerts are within the Persian events.

He has done many successful events around the world, the most recent event was in Oberhausen Germany, in March 2012.

You can view the popularity that Tohi has via his video viewers and his Facebook fan page which has around 200,000 fans. All of the music videos have been No1 in top charts on Iranian TV and Radio Stations.

So Tohi's potential to become international with a doubt feasible by the size of today's mass audience appeal that have taken to the artist. Taking into consideration that his homeland, Iran does not provide sufficient opportunities to such artists this has never stopped Tohi succeeding to follow his dream and ambition to be highly professional and change the acceptance of Iranian rappers and their status.

Tohi loves to support other talented Iranian rap musicians regardless if their upcoming or developed artists as he did not have this type of support when starting up to fulfil his dream. Tohi established his own company to help and promote young and upcoming artists.

Despite his success, his new style of music has also come under heavy criticism for its westernism. Tohi does not incorporate Iranian features into his music and this frustrates the older Iranian generation, who feel the Persian culture is disintegrating.
